Jim Mogan, a partner at global law firm Reed Smith, has been recognized as a standout commercial real estate attorney, earning a spot in the National category of Connect CRE’s 2024 Lawyers in Real Estate Awards.
A member of the firm’s Real Estate Group, Mogan represents REITS, investors, developers and owners in the acquisition, development, construction, financing and leasing of all types of commercial real estate assets including student housing, hotel, office, industrial and mixed-use projects. He is also a leading partner for the firm’s health care real estate practice, where he regularly represents investors in medical outpatient building, specialty hospital and seniors housing projects.
In addition to his responsibilities with a demanding legal practice, Mogan has turned his attention to supporting the firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion programs. He was selected to participate in the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group’s advocate and protégé program, contributing to the firm’s significant strides in support of professional development, mentorship and sponsorship of its lawyers, while also serving as an advocate for change, equity and representation in the communities it serves.
Likewise, Mogan is committed to pro bono work with his representation of community groups addressing affordable housing issues and participating in panels for the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a global nonprofit research and education organization. Mogan was selected by the ULI to serve as an expert on two of its technical assistance panels as part of their efforts in Philadelphia. He also represents, on a pro bono basis, Liberty Community Land Trust, a community land trust based in Los Angeles with various affordable housing transactions.
Finally, Mogan serves on the board of directors of ACHIEVEability, a social services organization based in West Philadelphia where he is helping to lead its efforts in development of a mixed-use project consisting of affordable housing units and commercial space.
