In recognition of National Women’s History Month, the Pennsylvania Courts released an infographic looking at the history of women in the Pennsylvania judiciary, as well as those women currently serving.
Currently, 34% of Pennsylvania’s active judges are women. On the state’s appellate courts, three of the current seven justices on the Supreme Court are women, Chief Justice Debra Todd being the first woman to become chief of the Supreme Court. A majority of judges serving on both the Superior Court and Commonwealth Court are women – with women serving as the president judge of each respective court.
