David Donahue has filed a lawsuit against Credit Corp Solutions Inc., alleging violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The complaint was filed on March 14, 2025, in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The plaintiff accuses Credit Corp Solutions Inc. of falsely inflating a debt amount in an attempt to collect more money than was actually owed.

According to the complaint, David Donahue received an unsolicited collection letter from Credit Corp Solutions Inc. on September 3, 2024. This letter claimed that Donahue owed $33,852.75 for a former credit account now owned by the defendant. However, when Credit Corp Solutions later sued Donahue in February 2025 for the same debt, they alleged that the amount due was only $28,711.85—a discrepancy of $5,140.90 with no payments made between these dates. Donahue argues that this false representation is a violation of FDCPA regulations which prohibit deceptive practices in debt collection.

The complaint highlights that Credit Corp Solutions' actions could mislead consumers about their financial obligations and potentially cause harm to individuals like Donahue who may be confused about their debts or credit report entries. Citing previous legal precedents such as Tatis v. Allied Interstate LLC, the complaint emphasizes the protection intended for consumers under FDCPA standards against misleading and deceptive practices by debt collectors.

Donahue is seeking actual damages under 15 U.S.C. § 1692k(a)(1), statutory damages up to $1,000 pursuant to § 1692k(a)(2)(A), and reasonable attorney fees and costs as per § 1692k(a)(3). He requests that the court declare Credit Corp Solutions' actions as violations of FDCPA and grant further relief deemed just by the court.

Representing David Donahue is Emily S. Gomez-Hayes from the Law Office of Emily Gomez LLC based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The case ID is AR-25-001222 with Judge AJ presiding over it.
