A city woman is suing a Northeast Philadelphia supermarket for injuries she sustained after falling at the business.
Attorney Philip M. Gilligan, of the Media, Pa. law firm Gilligan and Peppelman, filed the slip-and-fall lawsuit June 23 at the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas on behalf of Conchetta Logan.
The lawsuit accuses the defendant, Philadelphia-based PJP Marketplace Foodservice Superstore, of negligence and carelessness for allowing a dangerous and defective condition to exist at the store, located at 537 Rising Sun Avenue.
According to the lawsuit, Logan was shopping at the store back in early September 2010 when she slipped on a puddle of water that had accumulated on the floor near the frozen foods section.
As a result of the accident, Logan sustained lower back injuries along with bruising, contusions and abrasions, all of which caused Logan to suffer great pain and experience a loss of earnings and earning capacity.
Logan demands judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000.
A jury trial has been demanded. The case awaits management.
The case number is 110602167.
