A woman who slipped on a patch of ice has filed a personal injury suit at the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas against a Philadelphia convenience store, saying that the employees' negligence caused her to fall and injure herself.

Anna Allende, of the 2600 block of Howard Street in Philadelphia, stopped at the 7-Eleven located at the corner of Wyoming and Rising Sun avenues at 11:45 a.m. on May 28, 2013. She was walking around the gas pumps when she slipped and fell on some ice, the complaint says.

According to the suit, the fall caused Allende to sustain severe bodily injuries that could become permanent in nature. As a result of these injuries, Allende will suffer constant pain and anguish and become impaired from earning a regular salary. The plaintiff will also have to incur mounting medical expenses as she continues to recover from the incident, the suit says.

The plaintiff blames the negligence and recklessness of 7-Eleven and its employees for the injuries. According to the complaint, the business had the responsibility to make the gas pump area safe and secure for customers. The employees failed to properly inspect the area and warn Allende about any possible hazards. The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages in excess of $50,000.

Allende is represented by Marc Simon of Simon & Simon, PC, in Philadelphia.

The case ID number is 140701193.
