Lawsuit over fall at Sheraton parking garage set for arbitration

Cityhall

PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia woman has sued the Sheraton Philadelphia Hotel and local parking garage management company for negligence over injuries she allegedly sustained in a fall nearly two years ago.

Arbitration will soon be conducted in Nicole Jackson’s May 2014 suit against Crossroads Hospitality Management (which owns and operates the Sheraton Philadelphia) and Expert Parking Management, Inc. over a fall that happened during a visit to the hotel in July 2013.

According to the lawsuit, Jackson visited the hotel and exited towards the parking garage facility when she decided to walk toward a nearby restroom. At that time, Jackson claims she slipped and fell on a clear liquid on the floor, falling to the ground.

In the fall, Jackson claims she sustained injuries to her neck, both shoulders, left hip, mid-low back, in addition to emotional injury and permanent disability.

Jackson also claims to have lost professional earning power and income, and incurred large costs for ongoing medical care related to treatment of her injuries.

The plaintiff claims the collective negligence of the defendants in not recognizing or fixing the unsafe condition of the floor of the hotel’s parking garage facility created the circumstances which led to her accident.

The plaintiff is seeking damages not in excess of $50,000 in this case.

A motion for withdrawal of her counsel will be heard in the court chambers at Philadelphia City Hall on Wednesday.

An arbitration hearing in this matter is also scheduled for June 18 at the Court’s Arbitration Center.

The plaintiff is represented by Alexandra L. Lacheen of Lacheen & Lacheen in Philadelphia.

The defendant is represented by Sherry L. Horowitz, Esq. of Bala Cynwyd.
