Homeowners sue Oregon Scientific over fire

Courthouse pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH - Two Crafton residents are suing a technology company over allegations that the company’s faulty product caused a fire that destroyed their home.

Anthony and Chiana McClure filed a lawsuit July 8 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the Oregon-based company Oregon Scientific for negligence.

According the filing, electrical components of the company’s energy-saving product cause a fire to the plaintiffs' home in 2013, which resulted in substantial damage and property loss. The filing claims that the damages are the result of negligence and reckless of the company and its product.

The plaintiffs are seeking a judgment in their favor for damages of more than $75,000 plus attorney’s fees and court costs. They are being represented by Robert Colaizzi of the Colaizzi Law Firm.

U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania case number 2:15-cv-00880-JFC.
