PHILADELPHIA – A Lancaster veterinarian is suing her former practice alleging that she was unfairly discharged and that her disabilities were not accommodated.
Tara S. Rabuffo filed a complaint on Nov. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against VCA Smoketown Animal Hospital, also known as VCA Antech, Susan Myers Taylor and Angelica Barbarosa, alleging Americans with Disabilities Act violations.
According to the complaint, Rabuffo, a skilled veterinary surgeon, is a disabled individual who, due to a past incident, suffers from degenerative disc disease, latex allergy and also is a victim of a broken back. Because of her disabilities, the plaintiff requires a number of accommodations, all of which were fulfilled by her previous employers. In 2005, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant, but was not properly accommodated, and was put in danger on several occasions when she was exposed to latex and when she was asked to return early from maternity leave. She was terminated in 2011 and is suing the defendant for violations of ADA standards.
Rebuffo is seeking compensation for all damages, injuries received and all legal expenses. She is represented by Kevin A. Moore of Leisawitz, Heller, Abramowitch Phillips PC in Wyomissing.
