A shocking incident at a Pennsylvania bank has led to a lawsuit that could have significant implications for financial institutions' security protocols. On March 21, 2025, Tariq Khan and his wife, Ghosia Tariq, filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County against Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD Bank Group), alleging negligence and emotional distress following a robbery at one of its branches.

The case centers around an April 28, 2023 visit by Tariq Khan to the TD Bank branch located at 2200 Garrett Road in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. According to the complaint filed by their attorney Scott D. Galloway, Khan was retrieving valuable jewelry from a safe deposit box when he was accosted by an unknown assailant who forcibly removed the jewelry from his possession. The items stolen included gold bangles, necklaces, diamond rings, and other pieces valued at over $50,000. Despite the presence of a security guard on duty that day, no intervention occurred during the robbery in the bank's vestibule.

The plaintiffs accuse TD Bank of failing to provide adequate security measures at its facility. The complaint highlights several alleged shortcomings: "Failure to provide a safe facility," "Failure to provide adequate security," and "Failure to provide sufficient video camera capability." These lapses are claimed to have directly contributed to the theft and subsequent emotional distress suffered by the Khans. As stated in their filing, “Due to Defendant’s negligence...Plaintiffs herein are without the jewelry taken from Mr. Khan’s person.”

In addition to seeking compensation for their loss exceeding $50,000 due to negligence claims, Tariq Khan and Ghosia Tariq are also pursuing damages for emotional distress caused by this traumatic event. They assert that TD Bank acted intentionally or recklessly leading up to and during this incident which has left them with severe anxiety requiring professional counseling.

This legal action underscores growing concerns about customer safety within banking environments—a topic gaining traction amid rising crime rates nationwide affecting similar institutions’ reputations regarding client protection responsibilities while conducting transactions involving high-value assets like those kept inside vaults under custodial agreements between banks & clients alike.

Representing Tariq Khan and Ghosia Tariq is attorney Scott D. Galloway from Media-based law firm whose office address reads as follows: 14 South Plum Street; contact number being (610)891-0503; email gallowayesq@comcast.net provides further communication channel if needed beyond courtroom proceedings themselves where Judge presiding over Case ID CV- remains undisclosed until trial date set forth accordingly based upon scheduling availability constraints impacting judicial calendar operations currently underway across regionally governed jurisdictions involved therein.
