Trucker says ice in parking lot caused him to fall

Slip01

HARRISBURG – A trucker is suing a commercial construction company over an alleged slip and fall he suffered at the company’s parking lot.

Benjamin Hahn and his wife, Sherry Hahn, filed a lawsuit April 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Kawneer Company, Inc. alleging negligence, carelessness and recklessness.

On or about Dec. 5, 2014, Benjamin Hahn, while working for Watsontown Trucking Company, had connected a trailer to the cab of his truck, gotten back out of the cab to double check everything before leaving, and then slipped and fell on ice that had accumulated in the parking lot, he says. According to the claim, there was illumination at only one end of the parking lot.

The suit says Hahn did not notice the ice prior to his fall. The Hahns are seeking a judgement in an amount in excess of $75,000, exclusive of interest and costs.

The Hahns are being represented by attorney Thomas Waffenschmidt of the Waffenschmidt Law Firm, L.L.C. in South Williamsport.
