Slip02

PHILADELPHIA – A product merchandiser is suing a supermarket over a claim that she suffered major injuries when she slipped and fell due to an ill-placed floor mat.

Yvonne E. Krick filed a lawsuit April 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Giant Food Stores L.L.C., alleging negligence, carelessness and recklessness.

On May 30, 2014, while working for SAS Retail Merchandising in product placement for supermarket locations, Krick was walking through the back end of Giant Food Stores when she was tripped, according to the claim, by a floor mat that had been flipped and turned up on itself. According to the claim, she suffered a torn left labrum, various contusions and injuries to her left knee and hip.

Krick is seeking a judgement in an amount in excess of $75,000 as well as cost of the lawsuit.

Krick, who is demanding a jury trial, is being represented by attorney Thad M. Gelsinger of Leisawitz Heller Abramowitch Phillips, P.C. of Wyomissing, Pa.
