PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing the federal government and Barlynn Corporation, claiming negligence and failure to warn regarding a slippery sidewalk.
Marianne Pivirotto filed a complaint on July 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they failed to keep the sidewalk of their facility safe for people using them after a winter storm.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 22, 2014, she sustained injuries as a result of slipping and falling due to a sheet of ice that covered the sidewalk. The plaintiff holds the federal government and Barlynn Corporation responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to make certain arrangements to ensure that the sidewalk of their property was free of ice.
The plaintiff seeks all medical expenses, damages, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by Theresa M. Miller-Sporrer of Portnoy & Quinn, L.L.C. in Pittsburgh.
