Passenger accuses driver of causing injuries

Car accident 13

PHILADELPHIA — A passenger in a vehicle is suing the driver, Jeffrey Steere Sr., alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Joann Celia filed a complaint on July 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Steere, alleging that he failed to properly control his vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 18, she sustained physical injuries when she was riding in a vehicle driven by Steere, who rear-ended another vehicle. The plaintiff holds Steere responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to timely apply his brakes.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $150,000 plus interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Brandon A. Swartz and Bryan M. Ferris of Swartz Culleton PC in Newtown.
