Bar on Oak accused of copyright infringement

HARRISBURG — Several record companies are suing a bar, alleging copyright infringement.

Record companies are suing Bar On Oak Inc., d/b/a Bar on Oak, and Amaury Oliveira, Pennsylvania corporation, citing alleged copyright infringement.

Broadcast Music, Inc.; MJ Publishing Trust d/b/a Mijac Music; Universal - Songs of Polygram International, Inc.; Stone Diamond Music Corp.; Sony/ ATV Songs LLC d/b/a Sony/ ATV Acuff Rose Music; and Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp. filed a complaint on Sept. 29, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Bar On Oak Inc., d/b/a Bar on Oak, and Amaury Oliveira, alleging that they used the plaintiffs' musical composition without purchasing a license.

The plaintiffs hold Bar on Oak; and Oliveira responsible because the defendants allegedly used their music for public performance despite several request to cease using their work without purchasing a license.

The plaintiffs seek enjoin the defendant, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Kenneth J. McDermott, II of Tucker Arensberg, P.C. in Lemoyne.
