PHILADELPHIA -- An insurance firm and its insured party that makes wheelchair lifts are suing a Wisconsin corporation, citing alleged liability.

Catlin Specialty Insurance Company and Braun Corporation filed a complaint on Sept. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Trombetta Inc., alleging the Wisconsin corporation manufactured and sold a defective solenoid.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege they suffered damages after a Braun wheelchair lift malfunctioned and injured a driver transporting a disabled passenger. The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible for allegedly manufacturing a defective solenoid that caused the wheelchair lift to malfunction.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant for compensatory damages of $2,925,000 plus interest and court costs.

They are represented by Peter G. Rossi of Cozen O'Connor in Philadelphia.
