PHILADELPHIA — A woman is suing TransUnion LLC, a credit reporting agency, citing alleged negligent misrepresentation by reporting that she was dead.
Cathleen Mary Frey filed a complaint on Oct. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against TransUnion LLC, alleging that the credit reporting agency made false and inaccurate reports regarding her status.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages to her ability to borrow. The plaintiff holds TransUnion LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly sold the plaintiff's credit reports and marked her as deceased, making it practically impossible for her to secure credit.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Mark Mailman and Geoffrey H. Baskerville of Francis & Mailman, P.C. in Philadelphia.
