PHILADELPHIA – An Ambler woman employed by Lockheed Martin alleges her claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.
Helen Manning filed a complaint on Oct. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Cigna Group Insurance and Life Insurance Co. of North America alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled in 2015 and applied for disability benefits but was denied by the defendants. The plaintiff holds Cigna Group Insurance and Life Insurance Co. of North America responsible because the defendants allegedly upheld their decision to deny plaintiff's disability benefits despite having sufficient medical records to support her claim.
The plaintiff seeks the amount of $2,519 per month from Oct. 1, 2015, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Stuart A. Winegrad of Bezark Lerner & DeVirgilis PC in Philadelphia.
