Insurance 01

PHILADELPHIA — A woman is suing Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, alleging breach of contract.

Robin L. Wiessmann filed a complaint on Dec. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, alleging that the insurer wrongly denied her claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled but was denied disability payments to which she was entitled. The plaintiff holds Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay the plaintiff despite her disability according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for $150,000 plus interest and court costs. She is represented by Clifford E. Haines and Danielle M. Weiss of Haines & Associates in Philadelphia.
