PHILADELPHIA — A Pennsylvania man has filed a class action lawsuit against Florida-based Edge Information Management Inc., alleging violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Javier Azul Lopez filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Edge Information Management Inc., alleging that the defendant sent an inaccurate background report to the plaintiff's prospective employer.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he lost an employment opportunity and was without work for a substantial time because of the defendant's error. The plaintiff holds Edge Information Management Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly sent a background report to AutoZone listing the plaintiff as having a criminal record that was false in every regard.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory and punitive damages, actual damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by James A. Francis, John Soumilas, David A. Searles and Lauren KW Brennan of Francis & Mailman, P.C. in Philadelphia.
