PITTSBURGH – A McDonald couple claims a Pittsburgh general contractor they hired for restoration work on two homes did not complete the work or performed substandard work.
Daniel J. Avery and Heather Avery filed a complaint on Dec. 9 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Carol Flaherty and John Flaherty, doing business as Carol Flaherty Renovation and also known as Carol's Renovations, alleging breach of contract, fraud and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in 2015, they contracted with the defendants to do work on the bathroom in their home for $15,032. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because the defendants' work was allegedly substandard and that the contract was not in compliance with the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act. They also allege another project they hired the defendants to complete was never finished. They allege they have demanded a full refund.
The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $35,000 plus court costs and any other damages. They are represented by Gregory A. Castelli.
