PHILADELPHIA — An Irish airline is suing a Koppel man, citing alleged defamation.

Ryanair DAC filed a complaint on Feb. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Brian Lake alleging that the man threatened the plaintiff using social media.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it sustained damages to both its company and its reputation following a message the defendant posted on Twitter. The plaintiff holds Lake responsible because he allegedly issued threats and false representations about the plaintiff in order to harm its business and reputation to its customers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks permanent injunction against the defendant, award of exemplary and punitive damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. Ryanair is represented by Kevin L. Colosimo and Douglas M. Hall of Frost Brown Todd LLC in Pittsburgh.
