PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia woman alleges she was sent a misleading debt collection letter.

Yahaira Rivera filed a complaint on Feb. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Global Credit Collection Corp. alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in August 2016, she received a collection letter that falsely identified the original creditor as RBS Citizens NA and the current creditor as Citizens Bank NA. The suit states that the two creditors are actually the same entity.

The plaintiff holds Global Credit Collection Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly sent a collection letter that contained misleading information that would make a consumer believe that the current creditor is different from the original creditor.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Antranig Garibian of Garibian Law Offices PC in Philadelphia.
