PITTSBURGH — A Finleyville woman is suing Aetna Life Insurance Company, citing alleged breach of contract for denying her disability benefits.
Theresa DeWitt, who was an employee of Bombardier Transportation, filed a complaint on March 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania alleging that the insurance company refused further payments of plaintiff's benefits.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in 2015, she sustained damages from having her benefits denied. The plaintiff holds Aetna responsible because it allegedly denied further benefits to the plaintiff based on their claim that she no longer qualifies as disabled. Plaintiff claims her extensive orthopedic issues qualify her as disabled.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds jurisdictional limits of this court, court costs and interest. She is represented by Max Petrunya of Robert Peirce & Associates P.C. in Pittsburgh.
