Man alleges Howmedica, Stryker sold faulty hip replacement product

Medical malpractice 01

PHILADELPHIA — A Danielsville man is suing Howmedica Osteonics d/b/a Stryker Orthopaedics, Stryker Corp., Stryker Sales Corporation and Stryker Ireland Limited, medical implant manufacturers, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries, liability, negligence and product liability for producing a defective prosthesis.

Robert Andrukaitis filed a complaint on March 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they manufactured and sold a defective hip replacement prosthesis to the consumers including plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he sustained physical injuries due to the premature failure of the device. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly test the device and make sure that it was free of any defects before selling it to consumers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, actual damages, punitive damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Thomas R. Anapol of Philadelphia.
