PHILADELPHIA — A music publishing label is suing Ryan Brothers LLC d/b/a PJ Ryan's, Patrick Ryan and Paul Ryan, a Phoenixville pub and its operators, citing alleged copyright infringement.
Broadcast Music Inc.; Universal - Songs of Polygram International Inc.; Dynatone Publishing Company; Stone Diamond Music Corp.; and Universal Music - Z Tunes LLC d/b/a Universal Music Z Songs filed a complaint on March 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania alleging that the defendants used plaintiff's musical compositions in their establishment without permission.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they sustained damages from having their musical compositions used without being paid a license fee. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because they allegedly continued to use plaintiff's music without a valid license despite the plaintiff reaching out to them 65 times since June 2014, the complaint says.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek to enjoin the defendant and order the defendant to pay statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Stanley H. Cohen of Caesar Rivise PC in Philadelphia.
