PITTSBURGH — A Connellsville woman is suing Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company, citing alleged breach of contract for denying her long-term disability benefits claim.

Nicole L. Smith filed a complaint on March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Hartford Life alleging that the insurance company refused payment of plaintiff's long-term disability benefits.

According to the complaint, Smith alleges that she sustained damages from having her disability claim denied. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because it allegedly failed to properly review plaintiff's medical records in order to make a decision regarding her claim for benefits. The plaintiff received long-term disability benefits from February 2010 until June 2015 for neck and back conditions.

The plaintiff seeks interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Brian Patrick Bronson of QuatriniRafferty P.C. in Greensburg.
