Bristol-Myers Squibb employee sues his company and Aetna for disability benefits

Insurance 11

PHILADELPHIA — A New Jersey man is suing Aetna Life Insurance Company and Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, citing alleged breach of contract for denying his disability benefits.

Richard Putnam, an employee of Bristol-Myers Squibb, filed a complaint on March 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they denied plaintiff's application for short-term disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, he sustained damages from having his disability benefits denied. The plaintiff holds Aetna and Bristol-Myers Squibb responsible because they allegedly upheld their decision to deny plaintiff's disability claim despite several appeals offering sufficient evidence of his disability.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant to award him full and complete payment of his disability benefits, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Marc Snyder of Rosen, Moss, Snyder & Bleefeld LLP in Jenkintown.
