American United wrongly terminated disability benefits, suit claims

Insurance 09

PHILADELPHIA — A Wyomissing woman is suing American United Life Insurance Company, citing alleged breach of contract for incorrectly discontinuing her disability benefits.

Lisa Wells-Tallarico filed a complaint on April 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania alleging that the Indiana-based insurance company wrongly refused to pay plaintiff's benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in 2014, she was disabled and was initially approved to receive disability benefits until they were terminated. The plaintiff holds American United responsible because it allegedly decided to terminate plaintiff's benefits despite what she claims is sufficient evidence to the contrary.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in the amount of 60 percent of plaintiff's gross monthly salary, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Jamie R. Hall of the Law Office of Jamie R. Hall in Kennett Square.
