Suit claims Prudential wrongly cut off disability benefits

Insurance 09

SCRANTON — A Ross Township man is suing The Prudential Insurance Company of America, citing alleged breach of contract for denying his long-term disability claims.

Garry A. Masters, who previously worked as a salesman for Frontier Communications, filed a complaint on April 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against The Prudential alleging that the insurance company wrongly denied plaintiff's claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was damaged from having his disability benefits denied in November 2016 after more than four years of payment. The plaintiff holds The Prudential Insurance Company of America responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay plaintiff's long-term disability benefits despite sufficient evidence of plaintiff's continuing disability.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment of disability benefits due and owing to him, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Bruce J. Phillips of Wetzel, Phillips, Rodgers & Falcone in Plains.
