PITTSBURGH — An individual has filed a class action lawsuit against Samsung Electronics America Inc., alleging design defect, liability and product liability for selling cell phones that overheated and caught fire.
Brittany Jones filed a complaint on behalf of those similarly situated on May 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania alleging that the defendant manufactured and sold defective phones to consumers.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages from purchasing a phone that had overheating issues. The plaintiff holds Samsung responsible because it allegedly failed to warn the plaintiff and other consumers regarding the defects of its mobile phones.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Aaron Rihn of Robert Peirce & Associates P.C. in Pittsburgh.
