PHILADELPHIA — A union is suing International Longshoremen's Association Local 1242, and Philip Renzi, alleging breach of contract.

The Delaware River Stevedores filed a complaint on May 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they forced an unlawful work stoppage. The Stevedores operate the Tioga Marine Terminal in the Port of Philadelphia.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that their group was damaged due to lost profits and the inability to unload a ship at Tioga on May 15, when the work stoppage was initiated. The plaintiffs hold the labor group responsible because the defendants allegedly instituted the work stoppage affecting them.

The plaintiff seeks injunction against the defendants, all compensation to the plaintiffs, damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by James J. Sullivan, Andrew J. Rolfes and Anna Will Kentz of Cozen O'Connor in Philadelphia.
