PHILADELPHIA — The U.S. Secretary of Labor is bringing suit against PPS Preservation Inc. and owner Nick Potochnick, alleging the defendants underpaid employees.

R. Alexander Acosta filed a complaint on May 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania alleging that the defendants failed to pay fair wages to their employees, who work to clean and maintain foreclosed homes in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

According to the complaint, the Labor Department claims that affected employees were not adequately compensated by the defendants. The plaintiff holds PPS Preservation and Potochnick responsible because they failed to pay adequate wages to their employees.

The plaintiff seeks injunction against the defendants, liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. Bertha M. Astorga of the Office of the Solicitor in Philadelphia is representing the Department in the case.
