SCRANTON — A local union is suing SKS Manufacturing Inc., alleging breach of contract for failing to make its required payments.

Pennsylvania Heavy & Highway Contractors Pension Fund and trustee Michael Saporito filed a complaint on May 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against SKS, which is based in Uniontown, alleging that the employer failed to remit its monthly contribution to the plaintiffs employee benefit funds.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they and the employees they represent were damaged financially from defendant's lack of payments. The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible because it allegedly failed to make monthly installment payments.

The plaintiffs seek judgment in the amount of $64,452, interest, liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Syretta J. Martin of Spear Wilderman P.C. in Philadelphia.
