Suit alleges man was injured when LDS Church-owned car struck their vehicle

Car accident 45

SCRANTON — A Wellsboro couple are suing Jaide Beutler and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, alleging negligence for a car accident that left the husband injured.

James S. Marzolf and Yolanda M. Canales filed a complaint on May 25 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that Beutler failed to properly control her vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that, in 2015, Marzolf was injured in Wellsboro when their vehicle was struck by the car driven by Beutler and owned by the LDS Church. The plaintiffs hold Beutler and the church responsible because Beutler allegedly failed to stop and yield to the right of way, causing the church-owned vehicle to hit the plaintiffs' vehicle.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds $75,000 plus interest. They are represented by Michael E. Kosik of Schmidt Kramer P.C. in Harrisburg.
