PHILADELPHIA — The relative of a former inmate is suing the United States of America c/o the U.S. Department of Justice over a claim of negligence.

Conrad C. Bielewicz, administrator of the estate of Joseph Bielewicz, deceased, filed a complaint on May 31 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania alleging that the Justice Department failed to provide proper medical care to Joseph Bielewicz while he was incarcerated.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he sustained serious physical injuries as the result of several medical conditions. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because it allegedly failed to recognize Joseph Bielewicz's symptoms of severe gastrointestinal ulcers and provide the necessary treatment before his health deteriorated and he died.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant, interest and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Donald J. Feinberg of The Feinberg Firm P.C. in Philadelphia.
