PITTSBURGH — A Somerset couple are suing Divinity Investments LLC, alleging unpaid wages and violation of Workers' Compensation acts.

Jennifer and Joshua Maurer filed a complaint on March 3 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania alleging that the company failed to properly compensate the plaintiffs for their work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs, who worked for Divinity as property managers for a trailer park, allege that they were damaged from not being paid proper wages equal to their total working hours and then being fired from their jobs after voicing their concerns about missed payments. The plaintiffs hold Divinity Investments responsible because the defendant allegedly misclassified the plaintiffs as independent contractors in order to undercompensate them.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek unpaid overtime wages in excess of $5,535, unpaid wages in excess of $6,935, penalties in excess of $1,733.75, legal fees of $10,000, punitive damages, compensatory damages, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Christi Wallace of Kraemer, Manes & Associates LLC in Pittsburgh.
