PHILADELPHIA – A Reading woman is accused of damaging a Berks County township with her alleged actions.

Exeter Township filed a complaint on June 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Cheryl Franckowiak alleging violation of the Store Communications Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the defendant was the plaintiff's township zoning officer from 2002 to 2016. It alleges that she abused her privilege and legal obligations by circumventing proper procedures to the detriment of the plaintiff and also by accessing electronic accounts without authorization.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for compensatory and punitive damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. It is represented by Ronald L. Williams and Danielle E. Ryan of Fox Rothschild LLP in Exton.
