PHILADELPHIA — Zelienople parents are suing an insurance company, citing alleged breach of contract.

Jon Verba and Christine Verba filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., alleging that the insurance company denied the plaintiff's claim for benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that their son died and he had accidental death benefits through his employer. Their claim was denied due to the results of a toxicology report, which showed he had trace amounts of alcohol and drugs in his system. The plaintiffs hold Metropolitan Life Insurance responsible because the defendant allegedly denied the plaintiff's application for benefits despite supplying sufficient evidence.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in the amount of the insurance proceeds plus interest and court costs. They are represented by John Newborg of Newborg Law in Pittsburgh.
