PHILADELPHIA — A Clarks Summit man is suing Synchrony Bank, alleging the bank violated telephone harassment statutes by repeatedly calling his cellphone.

Bruce Barnauskas filed a complaint on June 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Synchrony Bank, alleging that the bank called the plaintiff numerous times.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that his privacy was invaded from being contacted several times. The plaintiff holds Synchrony Bank responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system or a prerecorded voice to call the plaintiff, creating a nuisance.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages between $500 and $1,500, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Brett Freeman of Sabatini Law Firm LLC in Dunmore, Penn.
