Pharmacist alleges she was wrongfully terminated by Cowhey Family Supermarket

Wrongful term 03

PHILADELPHIA – A Warwick resident alleges she was wrongfully terminated from her job with a Warminster-based company for her complaints about potentially illegal practices.

Susan Ritter filed a complaint on June 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Cowhey Family Supermarket LP alleging violation of the False Claims Act and the Pennsylvania Whistleblower Law.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began working for the defendant as a part-time pharmacist in February 2016. The plaintiff holds Cowhey Family Supermarket L.P. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated the plaintiff's employment on Jan. 30 after her complaints of false claims submitted to federal and state-assisted insurance program and multiple unethical and potentially illegal narcotic dispensing practices of another pharmacist.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks back wages and front pay no less than $150,000, compensatory damages and lost benefits, punitive damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Michael Murphy of Murphy Law Group LLC in Philadelphia.
