Penn Credit accused of failing to mark alleged debt as disputed

Late 02

PHILADELPHIA – An Allentown consumer alleges a Harrisburg debt collector failed to mark an alleged debt as disputed.

Sonia Williams filed a complaint on July 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Penn Credit alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she disputed an alleged debt that the defendant is trying to collect.

The plaintiff holds Penn Credit responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to list plaintiff's account as "disputed by consumer" even after it received plaintiff's dispute letter for her debt.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Antranig Garibian of Garibian Law Offices PC in Philadelphia.
