United Collection Bureau Inc. alleged to have used false statements in collection letter

Late 06

PHILADELPHIA – A New York consumer alleges that an Ohio debt collector made false, deceptive and misleading statements.

Trecia A. Hines filed a complaint on July 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against United Collection Bureau Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in July 2016, the defendant sent her a statement regarding an alleged debt that said its client would report any discharge of indebtedness as required by the Internal Revenue Code. She alleges this statement is false and misleading.

The plaintiff holds United Collection Bureau Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly utilized a false representation or deceptive means to collect or attempt to collect a debt.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Cary L. Flitter and Andrew M. Milz of Flitter Milz P.C. in Narberth.
