Former Lehigh University employee alleges The Hartford wrongfully terminated disability benefits

Insurance 10

PHILADELPHIA – A former Lehigh University employee alleges her disability benefits were unlawfully terminated.

Dolores Berger filed a complaint on July 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against The Hartford alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff has received long-term disability benefits under the defendant's policy since October 2011. The suit states the defendant terminated the plaintiff's benefits in September 2016.

The plaintiff holds The Hartford responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay disability benefits to the plaintiff despite having sufficient medical proof.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant to reinstate plaintiff's benefits, plus interest and court costs. She is represented by Kevin L. Orloski of Orloski Law Firm in Allentown.
