PHILADELPHIA – A class action has been filed by current and former installers for DIRECTV over allegations that they are owed unpaid wages.

Robert Guice, Steven Scott, Thomas Pedicord, Bernard Tyndale, et al. filed a complaint on July 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against DIRECTV LLC and DirectSat USA LLC alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs worked for the defendants as satellite television installation and service technicians. They allege they were paid on a piece-rate basis that did not compensate them properly for all hours that they worked.

The plaintiffs holds DIRECTV LLC and DirectSat USA LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay the plaintiffs for driving to and from job assignments, obtaining supplies, calling customers to confirm appointments and other tasks.

The plaintiffs seek damages for unpaid wages, liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Peter Winebrake, R. Andrew Santillo and Mark J. Gottesfeld of Winebrake & Santillo LLC in Dresher.
