Aldi accused of stealing design for over-the-door mirror

Patents 01

PHILADELPHIA – An Easton company alleges that grocery chain Aldi stole the design for one of its patented mirror products.

MCS Industries Inc. filed a complaint on July 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Aldi Inc. alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff owns patents regarding over-the-door mirrors and hanging apparatuses. It alleges that Aldi's Huntington Home Over-the-Door Mirror infringes on one of its patents.

The plaintiff holds Aldi Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly made copies of plaintiff's over-the-door mirror and sells them at a lower price, causing damages to the plaintiff's business.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks permanent injunction against the defendant, award damages to the plaintiff plus interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. It represented by Gavin P. Lentz and Anton Kaminsky of Bochetto & Lentz PC in Philadelphia.
