PHILADELPHIA – A Birdsboro woman alleges a defective retractable dog leash caused her injuries.

Joann Mavromanolis filed a complaint on July 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Ahold USA Inc., Stop & Shop, Foodhold USA Inc., et al. alleging strict liability, negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was injured when the defendants' Companion retractable dog lead detached from her dog's collar and struck her right hand.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn the plaintiff regarding the defective nature of their product.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, medical expenses, punitive damages, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Charles S. Cooper and Seth A. Britten of Cooper & Schall PC in Philadelphia.
