PHILADELPHIA - An Eagleville individual has filed a class action lawsuit against Equifax Inc. and Equifax Credit Information Services Inc. over allegations that it improperly handled and stored personally identifiable information.

Michelle E. Austin filed a complaint individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Sept. 11, citing the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she was damaged from having her personal information compromised as a result of the defendants' July breach. The plaintiff holds Equifax Inc. and Equifax Credit Information Services Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to implement appropriate cyber security protocols.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $150,000. She is represented by Jerry R. DeSiderato of Dilworth Law in Philadelphia.
