Individual seeks reinstatement of benefits from Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co.

Insurance 02

PHILADELPHIA – A woman formerly employed as graphic designer is seeking reinstatement of her long-term disability benefits.

Renee Curto filed a complaint on Oct. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled due to a sickness and made a claim to the defendant in July 2013. The suit states the defendant notified her in February that it was terminating her long-term disability benefits.

The plaintiff holds Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to investigate the merits of her claim and failed to provide a full and fair review.

The plaintiff seeks payment of long-term disability benefits due to her, order an immediate reinstatement to the plan, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Marc H. Snyder and Kellyanne Inservo of Rosen, Moss, Snyder & Bleefeld LLP in Jenkintown.
