RE BackOffice Inc. alleged to have unlawfully used copyrighted photos

PITTSBURGH – A Pittsburgh business engaged in the commercial real estate marketplace is alleged to have provided a client with content copied from two Washington, D.C. corporations.

CoStar Group Inc. and CoStar Realty Information Inc. filed a complaint on Oct. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against RE BackOffice Inc. alleging copyright infringement and other counts.

According to the complaint, the defendant conducted commercial real estate research on behalf of the plaintiffs' competitor Xceligent Inc. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant helped Xceligent populate its website the plaintiffs' copyrighted photos.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek enjoin the defendant, actual damages, statutory damages, compensatory damages, disgorgement of profits, injunctive relief, court costs, interest, exemplary and punitive damages, and any further relief the court grants.
