READING – A Plymouth Meeting consumer claims a debt collector is attempting to collect an alleged debt she claims she doesn't owe.
Katherine Tohanczyn filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Nov. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against IQ Data International Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in June 2017 the defendant contacted her in an attempt to collect an alleged debt she claims she does not owe.
The plaintiff holds IQ Data International Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to validate the debt before making any collection efforts to the plaintiff and provided derogatory information on her consumer report.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks declaratory judgment, actual damages, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Cynthia Z. Levin of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman P.C. in King of Prussia.
